TURNSTILE CONTINUES ALBUM ROLLOUT WITH SOARING NEW SINGLES “SEEING STARS” AND “BIRDS”
It’s that time again, folks! Hardcore heroes Turnstile are SO back, and arguably better than ever. After Taco Bell and Blink-182 fame, the experimental hardcore group is unveiling a highly anticipated full-length LP, ‘Never Enough.’ The latest singles, “Seeing Stars” and “Birds,” are truly out-of-this-world.
Listen, I’m a Turnstile glazer through and through! I’ll admit it, too! Thanks to their creative choices, they were the first band in years that made me feel something. Turnstile’s signature style makes you feel like you’re listening to music for the first time again, even as a fully-grown adult.
People (haters) suggested that ‘Never Enough’ will sound the same as their other records. However, that’s already being proven false, especially with “Brds.” This single serves as the most sonically different Turnstile drop to date. The guitar solo post-chorus has a few familiar elements, but it deviates from the source material perfectly. The yearning in Branden Yates’ vocals is palpable as ever.
Truthfully, “Birds” harkens back to old-school Turnstile, long before they saw any mainstream success. It offers ‘Time & Space’ brutality, with an edge that many felt was missing from the group since that release. “Birds” acts as a blend of the two worlds, showcasing the band’s growth while staying true to the roots that allowed them to soar.
“Seeing Stars” offers a jazzier take on Turnstile, with ambient chords and a groovy wah pedal driving everything home. I, for one, am stoked for the rest of ‘Never Enough.’ This era of Turnstile acts as an evolution, one where the band’s maturity has only improved the quality of their work without diminishing what made them so great in the first place.
