PEACH LUFFE’S NEW SINGLE “WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND” IS MELODIC, LOW-KEY ROMANTIC ANGST

“What’s On Your Mind” is a chill track of lush dream and indie K-pop music, essentially about a relationship breaking up. It’s not a high-tension affair filled with drama and intrigue but more about a subtle recognition and resignation; things didn’t work out between the couple. The singer-songwriter Jong Lee is more than willing to give his ex a proper hearing about what sounds like; based on the lyrics, she unceremoniously dumped him. Yet, to his credit and bruised ego, Lee is taking it all maturely in stride.

The leisurely, unassuming video that goes with the single shows Lee hanging out in possibly his very poorly lit living room. There are musical instruments strewn about, and Lee takes a break here and there to play video games. It is a fun distraction, probably from what is clearly troubling him about his former girlfriend.

On an upbeat note, the video concludes with a performance from Peach Luff that also features Michael Friedman, Henry Stein, and Yifan Wu in another setting, perhaps in a bar or restaurant, with low lights.

“What’s On Your Mind” is a decent and likable single with interesting compositional dynamics.
