MUO DUO’S NEW SINGLE “EXCITING TIMES” IS A WRY, EFFERVESCENT ALT POP

Muo Duo siblings Miles Donnelly and his younger sister Winter have crafted a catchy, melodic indie pop track with a twist. “Exciting Times” is the American product of this New York-based act but it sounds as if the Donnellys are singing with English accents.

The zesty, synth-driven single production-wise has a compressed feel to it. Yet, it still manages to be sonically uptempo and musically driving propelled by muscular sturdy guitar riffs. “Exciting Times” strives to give a unique, vivid snapshot of culture in 2024.

The idea of the track was to portray the “insecurity of existing and trying to make connections that feel real in the world.” This chaotic and creative journey began for the Donnellys during the pandemic in 2020 when they began making music together. The result is a song that puts the spotlight on breaking down the barriers of self-reflection to focus on life now and what that may look like. “Exciting Times” accomplishes that with a sly sense of humor and tongue planted firmly in one’s cheek.
