Lorde has officially announced her fourth studio album, Virgin, set to release on June 27, 2025, via Republic Records.
In a message to fans, Lorde described the album as "100% written in blood," emphasizing themes of transparency and raw femininity. The album's cover art features a blue-tinted X-ray of a pelvis adorned with a zipper and an intrauterine device (IUD), symbolizing the album's exploration of the complexities of womanhood.
Virgin comprises 11 tracks, including the lead single "What Was That," released on April 24. The track, co-produced with Jim-E Stack and Daniel Nigro, marks a return to Lorde's synth-pop roots reminiscent of her Melodrama era.
Collaborators on the album include Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Aged, and Buddy Ross. Mixing was handled by Spike Stent and Tom Elmhirst, with mastering by Chris Gehringer.
Virgin follows Lorde's 2021 album Solar Power and continues her pattern of releasing albums every four years. The album is available for pre-order in various formats, including CD, digital download, LP, and streaming.
