UK nu-gaze outfit Split Chain has unleashed their latest single, "Subside," accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Zak Pinchin. This track is the newest preview from their forthcoming debut album, motionblur, set to release on July 11 via Epitaph Records.
"Subside" is a raw, cathartic anthem that confronts toxic relationships and the liberation that comes with breaking free from them. Frontman Bert Martinez-Cowles describes it as "a call-out song to the antagonists in everybody’s life," emphasizing the importance of shedding judgmental, close-minded influences to thrive independently.
The accompanying music video complements the song's intensity with a deep blue color palette and a lo-fi aesthetic, blending elements of shoegaze and nu-metal to create a nonchalant yet powerful visual experience.
Split Chain is currently wrapping up the final dates of their North American tour, sharing the stage with Silverstein, Tarantula, and Teenage Wrist. Their upcoming album, motionblur, promises a fusion of nu-metal, shoegaze, and grunge influences, capturing the band's dynamic range and emotional depth.
