INDUSTRIAL IS SO BACK IN OFFICERS’ REMIX OF “PENCIL CHEWER” BY STRANGE PINK

Listening to “Pencil Chewer (Officers Reveal Your Nature Mix)” feels like walking through the future. Alt-rock band Strange Pink looked to OFFICERS to create an alternate version of their song “Pencil Chewer.” What OFFICERS produced is blissful, experimental heaven.

Compared to the original song, which is bright, upbeat, and almost surf-indie, this remix is inherently dark, sinister, and incredible. It keeps the song's original promise but transforms it into a shoegaze banger.

The drum fills start as the base for the song. I love that post-punk guitar that comes in and guides the ethereal sound towards a dreamscape for the senses – very much in the vein of Massive Attack production value. It features heavy industrial sounds and concentrated vocals that echo throughout the song.

It’s fast — with vocals like New Order and progression that sound straight out of the early Ministry days, still with an airy touch.

The six-minute song is filled with twists and turns, but one thing stays the same – it keeps you up in the clouds with its epic shoegaze sound. With all its reverb and synth, “Pencil Chewer (Officers Reveal Your Nature Mix)” will earn a spot on your atmospheric playlist for sure.
