LENE 3000 CASTS A WITCHY ELECTRONIC SPELL ON “LIGHTS OFF”

If you stand out in the forest long enough, you just might catch lene 3000’s new witch house track “Lights off.” The song comes straight from the mind of Norwegian synth-pop songwriter Lene Talgø and offers another glimpse into her strange and beautiful little bubble of indietronica.

“Lights off” feels tailor-made for fall, when the weather cools, the leaves start changing, and everything gets a little darker. The song initially carries a soft, lo-fi atmosphere before a club-ready electronic beat cuts through the haze, sending it somewhere entirely different.

From there, glistening synths twirl around your senses while soft alt-pop melodies collide with dancey breakbeats. The whole thing feels strangely hypnotic, like woodland fairies discovered an underground club and decided they weren’t leaving until sunrise. Finally, something for the fae to spin their wings to.

Talgø’s soft, ethereal vocals are what really pull everything together. Whether she’s whispering somewhere in the background or sitting right in your ear, there’s an elegance to her voice that fits perfectly inside the dreamy electronic world she’s building. Musically and visually, everything about lene 3000 already feels connected rather than thrown together for the sake of having an aesthetic.

That becomes even clearer in the accompanying music video for “Lights off,” which takes her already established identity and pushes it into a wonderfully strange, Alice in Wonderland-esque world. With her signature look, increasingly defined sound, and some notable names already showing love for her music, lene 3000 feels like an artist who knows exactly what universe she wants to create.
