DOWNSWING HIT A BREAKING POINT ON CRUSHING NEW SINGLE “AT MY WORST”

New York metalcore heavyweights Downswing are back with “At My Worst,” a crushing new standalone single that finds the band wrestling with ambition, sacrifice, and the price that comes with chasing the life you always thought you wanted.
Following last year’s And Everything Was Dark, “At My Worst” pushes Downswing’s increasingly melodic take on metalcore forward without sacrificing the sheer weight that has become such a huge part of their sound. Huge riffs, punishing grooves, and an undeniable hook collide across three minutes of controlled aggression.
But underneath all that muscle is a much more personal struggle.
“At My Worst” centers on the constant battle to find some balance in life. It’s about chasing the dreams you once pictured for yourself, only to eventually realize that getting there might require sacrificing more than you ever expected. The further you push toward one goal, the easier it becomes to neglect everything else around you.
That internal conflict gives the track an emotional weight that hits just as hard as the instrumentation. Downswing has never needed to choose between melody and brutality, and “At My Worst” is another reminder of how comfortably the band can live in both worlds.
The single also arrives with a new music video and comes just before Downswing head overseas for a September run through the UK and Europe, including several dates alongside Casey. The band will later join Born Of Osiris, Miss May I and Convictions on the Perpetual Iron Tour.
Downswing have spent the better part of the last decade refining exactly what they want this band to be. “At My Worst” sounds like another step forward: heavy enough to cave in your chest, melodic enough to stick around after the breakdown ends, and personal enough to give all that aggression a reason to exist.
If this is Downswing at their worst, we’ll happily take it.
