HALF BUILT HOMES JUST RELEASED A CLASSIC PUNK ANTHEM “NO DIRECTION”

Punk rock is best when it’s gritty, scrappy, and imperfect. Half Built Homes represents this spirit in their newest single, “No Direction.” The song takes audiences back to the early years of punk rock when minimal production efforts curated songs that stuck.

The single is messy enough, with gang vocals and power chords taking center stage. I don’t think anybody would pick up a song like this anticipating a polished effort—and, truthfully, it’s better off this way. “No Direction” offers a spirit often unsung in contemporary music. Many are “regressing” to simpler times, with stripped-back production earning fans thanks to integrity.

This punk music is necessary during times like these. Sure, it’s nothing to write home about, but that’s the point! Unpolished instrumentals and vocals remind audiences that music is meant to be played. This is intended earnestly, too; there are no backhanded undertones here, only sincerity.

Half Built Homes is a self-aware punk band, and their single “No Direction” will hopefully earn them wider audiences. The genre is long overdue for a renaissance, and songs like “No Direction” will be the renaissance leader.
