GET UP AND GROOVE TO PERENNIAL’S “READY! STEADY! GO!”

Perennial just dropped the alt-rock anthem “Ready! Steady! Go!”, giving us a powerful taste of their upcoming album, Modernism.

The track has a little bit of everything. There are Riot Grrrl roots, flashes of ska, and an overall quirkiness that feels very B-52s-coded. It’s fun, punchy, and ridiculously energetic, keeping those good feelings rolling from beginning to end.

It’s pretty much impossible not to get up and move while listening to this one. One of the biggest standouts is the eerie organ paired with the deep bass, creating a strange but infectious atmosphere that works perfectly alongside the addicting drums and piercing guitar.

Vocalists Chelsey Hahn and Chad Jewett have fantastic chemistry, effortlessly bouncing back and forth without either one overpowering the other. Meanwhile, Ceej Wolf absolutely slams behind the kit, throwing in some killer fills that give the track even more personality.

Clocking in at under two minutes, “Ready! Steady! Go!” comes and goes ridiculously fast, but it leaves enough of a mark that you’ll probably find yourself immediately running it back. It’s short, ferocious, and a hell of a good time. Now we just need the rest of Modernism to hit this hard.
