DIZZY SUNFIST AIM HIGH WITH “SHOOTING STAR” AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM OUR DREAM IS NOT DEAD
Japanese punk rock trio Dizzy Sunfist is keeping the momentum rolling with a brand-new version of “Shooting Star,” the latest taste of their forthcoming record, Our Dream Is Not Dead, out September 18 via Fat Wreck Chords.
The new release is part of the band’s Fat Wreck era, with Dizzy Sunfist re-recording material for a 12-track version of the record that features English-language lyrics. “Shooting Star (Fat Wreck Version)” lands right in the middle of the tracklist and gives longtime fans a fresh spin on a song that already knows how to move.
There’s an immediate rush to the track that feels tailor-made for sweaty clubs, festival stages, and anyone who still gets way too excited when a fast punk song kicks in. Dizzy Sunfist has always had a knack for pairing speed with melody, and “Shooting Star” keeps that balance intact. It’s bright, punchy, and packed with the kind of hooks that make two minutes and change disappear ridiculously fast.
The release also continues a pretty damn exciting chapter for the band. Earlier this year, Dizzy Sunfist officially joined Fat Wreck Chords, a label that has helped define melodic punk for decades. The band described the partnership as something they never imagined would happen, especially as a Japanese punk band trying to get their music out to the rest of the world.
Our Dream Is Not Dead arrives September 18 and features 12 tracks, including Fat Wreck versions of “Going Psycho,” “Punk Rock Princess,” “Carry On,” “Shooting Star,” and “The Dream Is Not Dead.” Fat Wreck is also pressing a limited pink-and-orange split vinyl edition capped at just 300 copies worldwide.
Dizzy Sunfist has spent years proving that punk rock doesn’t give a shit about borders, and “Shooting Star” is another reminder of why their sound travels so well. Turn it up, move something fragile out of the way, and get ready for September 18.
