HAYWIRE 617 HIT THE GAS ON “INTERSTATE LOVE AFFAIR” AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM
Haywire 617 recently took over Sound and Fury Fest in Los Angeles, headlining and selling the damn thing out. The Boston hardcore outfit proudly reps the 617 area code in their name and has quickly become one of the most exciting bands coming out of the city’s heavy music scene.
The band also recently signed with Roadrunner Records and is gearing up to release their new album, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye, on October 2, 2026. We’ve already gotten a few tastes of what’s coming, and on August 19, Haywire unleashed their latest single, “Interstate Love Affair.”
Accompanied by an absolutely unhinged music video, “Interstate Love Affair” keeps you guessing from the jump. It opens with footage from Sound and Fury, where the band famously threw $5,000 in cash into the crowd, before quickly spiraling into a collection of proper rockstar activities. We’re talking reckless driving with your friends and a mascot, destructive hotel room parties, fireworks, and general mayhem involving a Blink-182 tribute van. You know, normal stuff.
Musically, “Interstate Love Affair” carries that unmistakable Boston punk attitude that Haywire has made their own. There are shades of Dropkick Murphys, the indie angst of Skinhead, and the gritty hardcore spirit of Death Before Dishonor, all wrapped into something that still sounds distinctly like Haywire. It’s loud, ridiculously fun, and built to hit even harder when a few hundred people are screaming it back at them.
And if there’s one thing Haywire loves doing, it’s playing shows. Last summer, the band somehow managed to hit all 50 states, playing 96 shows in just 101 days. That’s less of a tour and more of an endurance test. They’re keeping that same energy going this weekend with a few pop-up shows around Southern California, so keep your eyes peeled. With Haywire, you never really know where the hell they’re going to show up next.
They’ve also made sure all that momentum means something beyond the band itself. Earlier this month, Haywire played a massive free charity show in Boston alongside Fiddlehead. More than 5,000 people showed up, helping collect over 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies for local children in need.
Between a sold-out Sound and Fury, a new deal with Roadrunner, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye arriving October 2, and a touring schedule that would make most bands cry just looking at it, Haywire 617 aren’t slowing down anytime soon. They’ve already conquered all 50 states. The rest of the world might want to start preparing.
