DISTANT DROP NEW VIDEO FOR CRUSHING SINGLE “SPIRIT”

Distant have unleashed a brutal new single and music video titled “Spirit,” one of the band’s most personal and emotionally charged releases to date. The track also features guest vocals from Tyler Beam of The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, adding another layer of intensity to the already punishing track.

From the opening moments, “Spirit” comes in heavy. Downtuned guitars grind forward while the drums hammer with relentless precision, creating the kind of crushing sonic wall Distant have built their reputation on. The track moves between suffocating breakdowns and tightly controlled bursts of aggression, delivering a sound that feels equally chaotic and deliberate.

Vocally, the collaboration between Distant and Beam hits with ferocity. The back-and-forth between voices amplifies the track’s emotional weight, giving the song an added sense of urgency and confrontation that fits its subject matter.

Unlike many of the band’s previous releases, “Spirit” draws directly from real-life trauma. The band explains, “Inspired by a real-life stabbing of a family member at a clinic called ‘Spirit,’ the track channels grief, shock, and the uncomfortable human surge of rage and revenge that follows trauma. It is raw emotion turned into relentless sound and not supposed to glorify violence, but it is meant to confront it and ultimately deal with its traumatizing aftermath.”

The accompanying video mirrors that intensity. Dark, performance-driven visuals place the band in a stark environment that reinforces the weight of the track’s themes. Rather than leaning on elaborate storytelling, the video focuses on the sheer force of the performance and the emotional urgency behind it.

With “Spirit,” Distant turn real life pain into something visceral and confrontational. It is heavy both sonically and emotionally, pushing the band’s sound into even darker territory while remaining grounded in a very human reaction to trauma.

The video for “Spirit,” featuring Tyler Beam of The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, is out now.
