BURP GIVES THEIR HATERS THE MIDDLE FINGER WITH NEW SINGLE, “ELW”
If you don’t have haters, you’re not doing it right! At least, that’s the mentality of hybrid Midwest/indie-emo outfit Burp. Their cheeky new single, “ELW,” tackles the opinions of their haters without giving them too much weight. Instead, they let the hate fuel their creativity and ultimate success.
Burp states that spending too much time ruminating over what the band is doing says far more about the opposing party. Consequently, using their brains to memorize lyrics “ironically” or focus on the band’s milestones turns haters into fans. Either way, obsession is occuring.
The track is wildly catchy, with big hooks and riffs guiding the way. Some intricacies lace the layers, but they’re never too overwhelming. It’s a solid, punky track that can generate a wide audience. However, there is still a significant amount of solid musicianship covered throughout it.
We should all be more like Burp in “ELW,” which offers messaging of: “mmm blockin out the haters.” Take a shot for how many times I’ve said “haters” throughout this review. Anyway. The song is catchy AF, and Burp deserves their hard-earned success, much to the dismay of the nays.
