ANCHOR & BRAILLE GET CANDID ABOUT “REAL LIFE”
These days, it feels like most of us are just living for the grind. Social media promotes a culture of hustle, which can lead to burnout. Anchor & Braille believes it’s not too late to find what really matters, beyond personal gains. Their single, “Real Life,” breaks users away from social media algorithms and bank account numbers, even if only for a few minutes.
They lament, “I try so hard,” a sentiment most of us can relate to. It feels like no matter how intensely we work towards a goal, something stands in our way. Or, worse, after we achieve something, we’re immediately positioned to chase after something else. “Real Life” implores you to stop and smell the roses, to the tune of a catchy alt-rock banger.
Stephan Christian’s solo project borrows from other alt-rockers, especially the likes of Bad Suns. His work leans less introspective and more towards sociopolitical commentary, a necessity. Christian accurately depicts what it feels like to live in the middle of a fast-paced society that never seems to breathe.
“Real Life” offers a catchy track with an important message, a reminder that there is far more to life than what you have or what you earn. Christian’s Anchor & Braille soundscape leaves room for tons of creative potential. There are many ways he could take this project after “Real Life,” and it’s far removed from his previous work in Anberlin, but it’s a good path for him to continue.
