BRENNA BENDS POP AND METAL INTO SOMETHING VICIOUS ON “WAY IT GOES”

Alternative metal phenom Brenna is back with an infectious new single, “Way It Goes,” and once again she has little interest in staying inside the lines.

Merging the wildest elements of electronic music with the bludgeoning tendencies of nu-metal and the haunting, avant-garde side of alt-metal, “Way It Goes” is equal parts playful and menacing.

A thunderous rhythm section drives the track while buoyant guitars chug and sway underneath Brenna’s uncanny vocals. The result sounds like a fierce metal band got their hands on a modern pop hit and started messing with its DNA.

That collision is where Brenna really shines. Her singing and spoken-word delivery carry the kind of hooks that could easily blast through mainstream radio, but just as things start to feel comfortable, she flips the switch.

Her screams are straight-up otherworldly, especially when they erupt over the track’s gargantuan breakdowns. It’s the perfect reminder that while Brenna knows her way around a killer pop hook, she sounds equally at home in mosh pits and among headbangers.
