ARSON THEORY AIMS TO RESHAPE HEAVY + ALTERNATIVE MUSIC WITH AN ARTIST-FIRST MODEL

Arson Theory is a new artist-first independent music company looking to shake things up within the heavy and alternative music worlds. Founded by Suicide Silence and All Shall Perish frontman Eddie Hermida alongside industry veteran Cameron Almasi, founder of INERTIA Artist Management, the company aims to bridge the growing gap between the traditional label ecosystem and the completely DIY approach many artists are forced to take when navigating today’s music industry.

Rather than asking artists to choose between handling everything themselves or signing away ownership and flexibility in exchange for support, Arson Theory is positioning itself somewhere in the middle. The company plans to offer artists resources across distribution, publishing, creative development, and other areas of the business while maintaining an artist-first mentality shaped by people who have experienced the industry from both sides.

Almasi shared some insight into how the idea for Arson Theory first came together:

“Eddie and I have been friends for a long time, and over the years we would constantly compare what his bands were experiencing in heavy music with what my clients were receiving in the pop, rap, and dance worlds, especially around distribution, publishing, and creative support. I saw a gap between complete DIY independence and the traditional label system. Artists shouldn't have to choose between doing everything themselves and giving up ownership, flexibility, or a large portion of their economics just to receive meaningful support. Publishing was similar; I wanted to bring the kind of creative development, collaboration, and opportunity I had seen in other genres into heavy music."

For Hermida, the mission is also deeply personal. After spending years navigating the music industry himself, he sees Arson Theory as an opportunity to create the kind of environment he wishes more musicians had access to throughout their careers.

“I'm a musician that has had a rough time with the 'industry,' so I approached this project carefully. Now a year-and-a-half later, I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to help boost the trajectory of someone's career. We care about the musician, and that is what I believe makes this label so special. It has artists keeping the balance behind the scenes and representing for the artist before any idea comes to fruition. It has managers fed up with red tape working to make things more streamlined. I am happy and proud of what has been built and look forward to watching this company become a staple in the metal and alternative space."

Arson Theory is already working with an impressive roster of artists from across the heavier side of music, including Shadow of Intent, 3TEETH, All Shall Perish, PeelingFlesh, Carcosa, and PSYCHO-FRAME. With experienced artists and managers behind the scenes and a growing roster in front of them, Arson Theory is setting out to prove there may be another way to navigate the modern music business without forcing artists to sacrifice the independence they worked so hard to build.
