2ŁØT’s DEBUT ALBUM ‘ENTROP’ DIVES DEEP WITH STUNNING AMBITION

Listening to 2ŁØT’s debut album, Entropy, one could say this five-piece band has thrown everything musically into this LP but the kitchen sink. It’s really as if no stone was left unturned and unexplored. There is something for everyone in so many genres; lyrically, people can grasp and understand and maybe apply any story the group tells to their lives.

The music is mainstream enough to capture many people's ears, but experimental; risks are taken sonically and arrangement-wise. 2ŁØT is not just an alternative rock band because their varied and wide-ranging influences cover hip-hop, funk, jazz, rock, soul, and electronic music into “Electronic Jam Music (EJM).”

A lot of craft goes into the songs and how they are structured. The music is creatively textured and nuanced but also bold and hard-hitting.

The ten-song tracks could efficiently work in movie or TV soundtracks because they reach beyond the palette of regular consumption. Some sound very cinematic and atmospheric, where there is space between the notes of music to give expression and allow room to breathe in the music and absorb it.

The level of musical skill is exceptional. Each musician is a genuinely gifted and versatile player, including Rudy Love Jr. (vocals/keys), Omar Jawar (drums), Sage Judd (keys), Chase Koch (guitar), and Robert Trusko (bass).

As a unit, they are very cohesive and lock in well together; every part has meaning and purpose. There is a connectedness between each band member, which is undeniable. Individually, each of them was dealing with heavy things like personal challenges such as family deaths, divorce, and other types of struggles life can be thrown one’s way.

Entropy, what is 2ŁØT characterizes as an “Emotional Journey Through Loss, Resilience, and Rebirth.” They follow what is called the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. This law states that all things can tend toward disorder over time. Hence, the unique band name 2ŁØT is shorthand for this natural law. They felt a kinship to the law, which was formed in response to those unpredictable challenges and upheavals they faced in their own lives. As a result, 2ŁØT is now united in a brotherhood with a serious and dedicated mission to channel chaos into what is significant art in Entropy.

Standout tracks include “Never Knew You,” “Arrow of Time,” “Call for Me,” “Grief,” and “Human,” and the title track, “Entropy.” The scope and depth of the human spirit preserving and triumphing over difficult and often impossible circumstances is remarkably expressed in these songs.

Entropy is a knockout first album by a fully realized band. It’s not a side project by musicians, DJS, music influencers, models, or whatever who come together here and there to make what may pass for music.

This is a serious work. 2ŁØT seems to be in it for the long haul. They have put an enormous amount of time into making this album. Thinking things out in a brilliant way with a clever purpose. Not to mention putting themselves emotionally and spiritually on the line, baring their souls for the world to see, hear, and experience.

When music has been relegated these days to a “vibe” or just something you play in the background, its inspiring and exciting songs can take center stage in the spotlight again because they demand it merited by their extraordinary worth and value. It may be a leap or stretch to suggest 2ŁØT learned about music from past generations of artists and bands and have incorporated that into their modern ethos, but if they have, they are much better for it.
