VIE JESTER’S INCUBUS COVER OF “PARDON ME” IS A DYNAMIC AND STRAIGHTFORWARD RENDITION
The L.A.-based modern power trio Vie Jester pays tribute and homage to Incubus with a credible cover of “Pardon Me.” They aren’t doing anything new or different with the song, but Vie Jester performs it well. The group rocks hard and forcefully plays in the word's best sense. One of the main centerpieces of the cover is the melodic vocal harmonies that make it shine and stand out. Plenty of heavy riffs and good chord progressions abound in “Pardon Me,” coupled with a driving and urgent rhythm section.
However, it won’t make you forget the original because it remains such a powerful and memorable song that has resonated with so many people since its release in 1999. Brandon Boyd's vocal performance was supremely unique, dramatic, and exciting. The singing was so raw and unfiltered. It’s hard to erase it to say, “Hey, I like this cover better.”
“Pardon Me" was about a time in Boyd's life when he was going through good and bad things. A picture inspired the potent song and the gut-wrenching lyrics in Life magazine of a man who had spontaneously combusted.
Vie Jester, who has been favorably compared to Tool and Alice In Chains, has talent and merges their collective abilities as musicians into a mighty force in “Pardon Me.”
