CHALK HANDS HUMBLY DISPLAYS MIND-BLOWING TALENT IN “A COMFORT YOU BORROW”

“A Comfort You Borrow” by Chalk Hands uses epic, melancholy sounds to deliver a gutsy track that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster in under 2 minutes. The track opens with an atmospheric intro, slow, ethereal sounds leading the charge. It picks up into a post-hardcore sound, getting heavier and faster in an instant. It feels incredibly raw, yet still maintains a polish that sounds incredible.

From the calculated drum fills to the screaming vocals, emotion is potent in this track. Guitars skillfully strum in a way that essentially mimics math rock, showing off the insane musical talents of the band. Musical chemistry is something that the members of Chalk Hands can cross off the list, because they’ve got plenty.

Lyrically, the track takes on a reflective nature, with multiple rhetorical questions guiding its movement. The song is all about boundaries, asking: “Where do you draw the line?” With daily lives filled to the brim with responsibilities and obligations, when does it get too much? “A Comfort You Borrow” asks listeners to take a step further and consider taking care of themselves.

The track acts as a process for feeling emotions. Short bursts of slowness, energy, and solos give the song a dynamic edge that keeps you on your feet. The music video could not have been more perfect; a simple glimpse into the recording process adds that extra level of intimacy to the band.

This isn’t the only new music from Chalk Hands, as they are releasing their new album, ‘The Lines That Shapes the Coast of Us’, on March 27. If every song sounds as sweet as this, the album will be a success.
