WE ARE “CRUSHING!” ON ZIGGY 2000

Bristol-based artist Ziggy 2000 gives us a new indie pop anthem, “Crushing!”. This one starts with distant, fuzzy, lo-fi organs and synths, buried melodic ear candy sounds, and tonally unique fore-front vocals that punch through the production in a way that completely envelops you until the end of the song, when you repeat it. Ziggy 2000 gives us an insanely catchy and upbeat tune about helplessly and painfully crushing on someone, blending pop, indie-rock, and shoegaze elements and always looking for that person in other people.

Ziggy has a clean style of structuring the lyrics and sentiment in a way that makes the listener feel like they are reading a cheeky, heartfelt poem from her diary,

“Always bad taste; they leave a trace

No appetite, so they go to waste

These days I wait for something new,

but all I do is find you -

It’s CRUSHING”

and gives us a chanty and spacey chorus that you WILL be singing along with the group vocals by the time it comes back around.

The artist tells us that “Crushing!” is a cathartic release. I just wanted to scream, laugh, and not take myself too seriously. "It’s a song born from that unfiltered moment of frustration and humour, where emotions collide in the most liberating way."

Ziggy is fiercely carving her way in the indie-rock world, for fans of Dora Jar, Mars Argo, and beabadoobee !!
