EXPORTER RELEASES “LETTING GO,” A PASSIONATE PREVIEW OF THEIR UPCOMING EP

Unafraid to switch it up, alternative rock band exPorter just dropped a single titled “Letting Go,” where they explore the darker side of healing. The Southern California-based trio is gearing up to release their new EP, “New Rubber Girlfriend,” where the track will be featured.

From first listen, it’s evident that “Letting Go” anchors the theme of longing through motifs of death, mourning, and overall heartbreak. While a change of pace for the band since their 2022 Blink-182-esque album, “NoBrakesNoBrakesNoBrakes,” they are moving in an authentic direction, exploring more slow and emotional sounds.

The guitar tone in the pre-chorus is a strong and sharp noise, reminiscent of sounds from the 2023 Paramore song, “Thick Skull.” Their heavy Green Day influence — think “21 Guns” — is evident throughout the tune, from the overall melody to the energetic breakdown.

While the lyrics are pretty straightforward, they’re catchy enough that you’ll find yourself singing along on the first or second listen.

Around the 2:20 mark, the vocalist screams, “I thought you were the one,” providing a powerful switch-up that conveys the angst of agonizing over something. From this moment on, each member’s strengths flourish. It feels like the band is putting their all into the wrap-up, from the melodic shouting vocals to the powerful drum strokes. Out of the whole track, the breakdown takes the cake as its most decisive moment.

Overall, “Letting Go” is an edgy and impassioned reminder of 2000s alt-rock with a modern twist. Catch exPorter’s new EP, “New Rubber Girlfriend,” on streaming services soon.
