WALLOWS TEAR UP THE GREEK THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES

WORDS AND PHOTOS BY NIKKI NEUMANN

The night opened up with Samia, she had such a sweetly soft, fairy-like presence on stage, but in a carefree way as she danced around the stage and encouraged you to embrace your inner weird child. A perfect start to the evening.

The anticipation built up as we all waited for the headliner Wallows to come out. As they made their grand entrance, the crowd broke out into a collective insatiable scream of excitement.

They started out their set with the first two tracks off their latest album “Tell Me That It’s Over” and then jumped around on their discography. All the while the whole amphitheater was on their feet dancing away.

In between songs they mentioned they were quite excited to be playing at The Greek as it was a hometown show for them. They definitely got a warm LA welcome from the whole crowd.

“Remember When” was a highlight for me. It’s got that nostalgic energy of dancing around the bedroom of your teenage years - with the volume at full blast and your mom banging on your door to turn it down. You basically have to start dancing when you hear this song. They also started blasting confetti up into the air about 3 quarters of the way thru the song which just took it up another level of excitement. It’s always more fun dancing in confetti.

The crowd went absolutely wild for the encore. They ended the night with “Are You Bored Yet?”. For such a young band they’ve got an impressive stage presence, you can tell they’re going places. This was the third night of their “Tell Me That It’s Over” tour and they’re only getting started. Highly recommend catching one of their shows on this tour!
