VICTORIES EMBRACE THE MESS ON POP-PUNK RIPPER “SAD BUT RAD”

The new Victories track is a ripping pop-punk anthem with a title that pretty much sums up how we’re all feeling: “SAD BUT RAD.

An instant blast of amped-up guitars and kicking drums gets things moving right out of the gate. It’s upbeat, infectious, and practically begs you to start bobbing your head, but underneath all that energy is a song dealing with something much heavier. “SAD BUT RAD” is about putting on a happy face for the world while hiding what’s really going on underneath.

“Faking a smile, although she's down”

At its core, it’s a love song about truly seeing someone and embracing the sadness that comes along with them. She may look like she has everything together on the outside, but the love only deepens when she lets those walls down and allows herself to be vulnerable. It’s that whole “warts and all” mentality. Relationships can be messy, people can be messy, and sometimes loving someone means accepting every bit of that mess.

“I’m in love with the mess”

Victories understand that relationships come with plenty of ups and downs, and “SAD BUT RAD” reflects that musically as well. The track eventually pulls back for a slower breakdown before building itself right back up into a heavy-hitting conclusion.

People aren’t perfect, and relationships sure as hell aren’t either. “SAD BUT RAD” doesn’t pretend otherwise. Instead, Victories turn those imperfections into a ridiculously fun pop-punk track about sticking around for the good, the bad, and everything in between. If this is where Victories are headed next, we’re definitely along for the ride.
