SAOSIN RETURN WITH “STARTING OVER AGAIN”
Post-hardcore staples Saosin are back with “Starting Over Again,” their first new song in over a decade, alongside a new music video. It should feel like a moment. Instead, it feels more like a reset that doesn’t quite hit as hard as it could.
To be fair, the track itself is solid. The chorus lands, the production is clean, and everything is locked in the way you’d expect from a band with this much experience. Cove Reber is officially back on vocals here after the band spent time playing shows with both him and Anthony Green, and he sounds comfortable stepping back into the role.
The song was produced and mixed by guitarist Beau Burchell alongside Phil Sgrosso, and it shows. Everything is polished, maybe a little too polished. It leans heavily into the band’s classic sound without really pushing beyond it. After this long a gap, you kind of want something that surprises you. This doesn’t quite get there.
And it’s hard not to think about what’s missing. The absence of Justin Shekoski still hangs over everything. His guitar work brought a certain tension and unpredictability that helped define the band at their best. The new track works, but it doesn’t hit with that same edge. You can’t help but wish he was still in the mix.
The band has shows lined up this year, including Aftershock Festival in October and a spot on the E.N.D. Cruise 2027 early next year. That live energy has always been a huge part of what makes Saosin click, so there’s still plenty of reason to care.
Meanwhile, Anthony Green is also back in action with Circa Survive, which only adds to the bigger picture of where this band sits right now.
