TURNSTILE RELEASES “LOOK OUT FOR ME,” THE 6-MINUTE FOURTH SINGLE FROM THEIR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED LP, ‘NEVER ENOUGH’
Hardcore’s finest, Turnstile, have been doing incredible promo for their upcoming record, ‘Never Enough.’ The rollout of their singles has been fan-centric, inviting their community to small-scale shows across the US. These events have been met with insane, yet deserved hype. Their fourth single, “Look Out For Me,” represents a clear sonic departure from their earlier work.
Early criticism for ‘Never Enough’ suggested that the record would sound like everything we’ve heard from the five-piece until now. However, the latest release indicates otherwise, rounding out at nearly 7 minutes of sonic heaven. It still sounds like a Turnstile song, with ethereal lead vocals and synthesizers rounding out the ambiance.
Still, it’s notable that the group chose “Look Out For Me” presumably as the last single for this record cycle. The gritty bassline in the intro and marching band drumline build momentum that will translate well to a live performance, leading one to believe a headlining tour is on the pink cloudy horizon for the group and their fans.
Turnstile will never go back to ‘Time & Space,’ but the music they’ve released ever since can still be authentic for those with an open mind. The songs are still incredible and not quite like anything else that’s out right now, though copycats are emerging from cracks in the pavement. This is a once-in-a-lifetime band; we are all so lucky to have watched this journey from the ground up.
While it’s still uncertain how ‘Never Enough’ will rank in my opinion of Turnstile’s discography, the singles, like “Look Out For Me,” are promising. Lyrically, sonically, and dynamically, Turnstile just keeps getting better and better.
