GOOD TERMS DELIVER AN EMOTIONAL GUT-PUNCH WITH NEW SINGLE “PROGRESS” AND LAUNCH WALK-A-THON FOR A CAUSE
Los Angeles emo-rock band Good Terms has unveiled their latest single, "Progress. " The track encapsulates personal growth and resilience, a culmination of years of experiences and emotions, reflecting the band's journey through life's challenges.
Vocalist and guitarist Brian McShea shared insights into the song's creation, revealing that the lyrics originated from a stream-of-consciousness note penned in January 2020. This period marked a transitional phase for McShea, having recently left his job at Starbucks to pursue music full-time. The lyrics capture the uncertainties and aspirations of that time, addressing themes of self-doubt, ambition, and the quest for personal fulfillment.
"Progress" also touches on the band's collective experiences, including the loss of McShea's Altadena home in the Eaton Fire. These events have imbued the song with a depth of emotion, making it a testament to perseverance and the human spirit.
Musically, "Progress" showcases Good Terms' signature blend of emo and pop-punk, characterized by energetic riffs and heartfelt vocals. The track reflects the band's DIY ethos, with members contributing to every aspect of its production.
Along with the single release, Good Terms is organizing a Walk-A-Thon Hike on May 24 at Elysian Park to benefit Notes For Notes, a nonprofit organization that provides youth access to musical instruments and education. This event underscores the band's commitment to community engagement and the transformative power of music.
