The Mars Volta continue their latest creative chapter with the release of their sprawling new single, “Cue the Sun / Alba Del Orate,” while simultaneously announcing Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business, the band's first live album in more than two decades.

Few bands have built a legacy around unpredictability quite like The Mars Volta, and this latest release once again showcases the group's fearless approach to songwriting. Rather than looking backward, Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López continue pushing into new sonic territory while maintaining the adventurous spirit that has defined the band since day one.

“Cue the Sun / Alba Del Orate” unfolds like a cinematic journey, weaving together hypnotic synth textures, Latin-inspired rhythms, jazz-inflected passages, and Rodríguez-López's unmistakable guitar work. Cedric Bixler-Zavala's vocals glide effortlessly through the song's shifting dynamics, guiding listeners through a composition that feels both expansive and deeply immersive. As with much of The Mars Volta's catalog, the track rewards repeat listens, revealing new layers and subtle details with each spin.

Alongside the new music comes the announcement of Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business, marking The Mars Volta's first official live album in over 20 years. The long-awaited release promises to capture the band's legendary live performances, showcasing the improvisation, intensity, and musicianship that have made them one of progressive rock's most celebrated acts.

Together, the new single and live album announcement reaffirm that The Mars Volta remain one of modern music's most adventurous bands. More than two decades into their career, they continue evolving without sacrificing the creativity and fearless experimentation that first established them as pioneers of progressive rock.

“Cue the Sun / Alba Del Orate” is available now on all major streaming platforms, while Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business gives fans another reason to celebrate the band's remarkable return to form. The album drops October 16. To pre-order, click HERE!
