Japanese House never fails to create magic within the indie realm. The Japanese House kicks off their 2023 US tour in Los Angeles and illuminates the hearts of all with their unique electro-pop tunes. The beauty in their songs lies within the juxtaposition of sentimental lyrics with contrasting upbeat instrumentals.
Amber Bain discusses from a recent interview, that their latest release album ‘In The End, It Never Does’ is a state of release towards the end of a relationship. It is described as a confusing, bittersweet feeling of a breakup. The singer, Amber Bain, confessed that songwriting is simply cathartic, where her music is the first time she unveils such thoughts to the world. The intimacy of each song felt nonetheless like a powerful performance that the audience was able to experience together with the band.
We thought the performance couldn’t get any better – and then it did. A guest performer surprised us as they hopped up the stage (devotedly, in a leg cast) as the song “Pages” came on. The audience cheered loudly as MUNA sang along delicately with Amber. It was a sensational collaboration between Japanese House and Muna - something rare that the audience could only experience for just a few minutes.
The night closed out with an encore from the audience and ended with Amber’s personal favorite track, “Sunshine Baby”. The room was filled with energy and a colorful ambiance as audience members danced along to its hypnotic beats. The Japanese House transformed the night at the Fonda by creating a memorable experience and cultivating a personal connection with the queer community.
