THE HONESTY’S NEW POP-PUNK SINGLE REVEALS THEIR “POINT OF VIEW”

After referencing Midtown in “Become What You Hate,” The Honesty continues their pop-punk agenda in their album rollout. Their latest single, “Point of View,” channels classic pop-punk sounds with a fresh voice. Quite literally, their point of view is what sets them apart.

The subgenre’s renaissance has seen a saturated soundscape, defined largely by nostalgia-bait. However, The Honesty rejects these stereotypes while honoring the sounds we all grew to love. They still encapsulate that energy, but their angle separates them from anything else that’s out right now. Plus, the song is just dang catchy.

Its lead guitar riff rivals that of icons like Blink-182, especially with its building lead-in at the top of the song. Though based on previous song titles, they have a robust library of reference points. There are tinges of Midtown sprinkled throughout the track, especially Gabe Saporta’s unabashed self-confidence and his habit of prioritizing integrity, even in his lyrics. Powerful voices are not always reliant on classically trained techniques.

Overall, The Honesty could potentially become the next big thing in pop-punk. Their use of samples, guitar riffs, crescendos, and lyrical themes make “Point of View” a captivating single. Hopefully, their full-length LP follows this fold, showcasing everything the band is good at. The right audience will form over time, especially as they continually establish their sonic presence.
