THE DARKER SIDE OF MUSIC COMES ALIVE IN ANAHEIM
The Parish at the House of Blues in Anaheim transformed into a sanctuary for gothic energy during the fourth stop of the month-long Colder Than Hell Tour. My first concert coverage of 2025 began in an atmosphere steeped in shadowy aesthetics and intense, brooding sounds that set the tone for an unforgettable evening.
The night opened with Julien-K, whose precise and atmospheric set combined rhythmic beats with a sharp edge of intensity. Their ability to weave electronic elements into a darker soundscape immediately drew the audience into their world, setting the foundation for what would follow. Next, Priest took the stage, captivating the crowd with their unique fusion of industrial tones and synth-driven melodies. Their vocals' haunting quality and commanding stage presence added depth to the night, heightening the anticipation for the main act.
When Vampires Everywhere emerged, the energy in the room shifted into an even darker and more dramatic realm. Headlining the event, they delivered a performance that genuinely embodied the gothic essence of the tour. Drawing heavily from their latest album, The Devil Made Me Do It, the band unleashed tracks like “Immortal Love,” “Cry Little Sister,” and “Ghost,” each song pulling the audience further into their shadowy narrative. The band's brooding energy, theatrical delivery, and undeniable chemistry with the crowd created an immersive experience long after the final note.
As an added element of intrigue, Vampires Everywhere recently debuted a music video for their single “Antichrist,” a visual counterpart to the themes explored in their new album. While the track wasn’t featured in the night’s setlist, the video offers fans a striking continuation of the band’s dark artistic vision.
The Colder Than Hell Tour’s stop at The Parish was a mesmerizing plunge into the macabre, combining mood, music, and artistry into a powerful showcase. This event marked a thrilling start to what promises to be an exciting year ahead in live event photography.
