THE CHATS ARE BACK WITH NEW ALBUM “HALF CUT” AND ROWDY SINGLE “OFF IT”
Australia's favorite troublemakers are back at it. The Chats have announced their new album, Half Cut, arriving March 5, 2027, via Virgin Music Group, and they're kicking things off with a brand-new single, “Off It,” accompanied by an official music video.
Known for their no-frills approach to punk rock, razor-sharp humor, and unapologetically Australian attitude, The Chats have built a reputation on keeping things loud, fast, and wonderfully ridiculous. From their breakout hit “Smoko” to their relentless live performances, the trio have never been particularly interested in cleaning up their act.
The announcement of Half Cut marks another chapter for the band, which has spent years bringing its scrappy brand of pub rock and punk to audiences worldwide. Their music has always thrived on simplicity: punchy riffs, infectious hooks, and the kind of attitude that makes you want to crack open a cold one and forget about your responsibilities for a while.
“Half Cut is a fun rock and roll record, but it's maybe a little more open than stuff we've written in the past,” says vocalist Eamon Sandwith. “I definitely hesitate to use the word 'mature,' but it's a bit of a progression, I'd say.”
Leading the charge is “Off It,” the first taste of the upcoming record. The single arrives with an official music video, giving fans an early look at the band's next era.
With Half Cut on the horizon, The Chats are gearing up for another round of gloriously unfiltered Australian punk rock. If there's one thing this band has proven, it's that you don't need to reinvent rock 'n' roll to make it entertaining. Sometimes three chords, a little attitude, and a healthy disregard for good manners are all you need.
