TAKEN ALIVE SHOWS HEART AND GRIT IN NEW TRACK “SPINNING”
Where would we be without our biggest allies in life? Taken Alive explores those who keep us going in their swirling pop-punk tune “Spinning.” With heavy-hitting sounds, seamless production, and a chord progression that captures a hypnotic feeling, they capture the need for connection in a stunning way.
The track is pretty consistent, with prominent vocals by Ruston Fettig layered over a classic, optimistic sound that makes the band so distinct.
Moods of empathy and understanding are present, but the lyrics also deal with the authentic struggle of being somebody’s rock. Many yearn for those in their life to let their walls down, as they explore with lyrics such as “tell me everything that keeps you up at night.” They also reiterate the balance in this act, as it’s easy to “suffocate” taking care of somebody.
The highlight of this track is undoubtedly the epic screaming vocals, mixed with a piercing guitar riff that shakes you to your core. It’s mesmerizing, clean, and produced with a charm that has been center stage in previous tracks like “Ashes.”
In classic pop-punk fashion, it slows down, isolating the vocals into a dramatic breakdown, layering everything into a beautiful crescendo that the dust of the track can settle on.
Taken Alive does it again in “Spinning” – dominating the dramatic rock sound while also keeping an airy presence that feels fresh.
