TAKEN ALIVE RELEASES “ASHES,” A POSITIVE POP PUNK PARADISE

With Warped Tour last year and continuing this year, it’s no surprise that pop punk is having another wave of well-deserved appreciation. Taken Alive ideally fits this bill with their new single, “Ashes,” an uplifting song crafted with bright tones and inspirational lyrics.

Ever hated your job? Or been in a toxic relationship? Or even felt stuck in life? “Ashes” is an anthem for all those contemplating a change, and the band begs people to take a stand. Like they say in the song, “It’s time to burn your castle down,” and start anew.

It has the traditional pop-punk vibe, with their high-energy performance flowing into the familiar sound of shredding guitars. You can easily see the heavy Blink-182 influence in the vocals. It has the melodic touch of The Used with a heavy vibe that’s very much Jimmy Eat World.

From the breakdowns to the slower ballads within the song, it’s an instant classic that easily outperforms all of the band’s work to date. It’s polished, fun, and snappy.

I love that this track screams out to all those who feel set back, encouraging and uplifting them to try something new. Positivity is really what shines through in “Ashes,” and it sticks with you throughout the day.

“Ashes” has that classic sound that pop punk enthusiasts crave, while also whipping up their own unique take on it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Taken Alive at the festival next year.
