System of a Down has released their first music in 15 years in the form of "Protect The Land" & "Genocidal Humanoidz". Although the band has previously not been able to come together, differing on American politics as well as artistically and conceptually, the band now join forces to speak up on the current crisis facing Armenia & Artsakh.

Proceeds from the songs which are available on Bandcamp will be going to the Armenia Fund, a charity that provides aid to those in need both in Artsakh and Armenia. In the biography of their Bandcamp page, the band state:

We as System Of A Down have just released new music for the first time in 15 years. The time to do this is now, as together, the four of us have something extremely important to say as a unified voice. These two songs, “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” both speak of a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia.”

The first track, the 5-minute-long “Protect The Land” sees Serj and Daron join in a long-awaited vocal harmony among steady dirty-toned guitar riffs. Lyrically the pair ask “Would you take a stand? Would you stay with gun in hand?” regarding the attacks from the joint forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Both written and produced by bassist Daron Malakian, the second track picks up the tempo providing a shorter yet heavier piece of the newly reinstated System of a Down. In immediate comparison to the first track, “Genocidal Humanoidz” feels more hard-hitting both in terms of the lyrical content and instrumental extremity.

The group then goes on to say that “There is an immediate need for global citizens to urge their respective governments to not only condemn the actions of these crooked dictators but to also insist world leaders act with urgency to bring peace to the region and rightfully recognize Artsakh as the independent nation it is.”

The release of "Protect The Land" & "Genocidal Humanoidz" says something special about the legendary alternative-metalist’s. For one-and-a-half-decades, the group has been silent, but they have now reunited setting their differences aside to focus on their common views and joint goals.

The band finally states “the music and lyrics speak for themselves. We need you to speak for Artsakh
