SWEET NOBODY EMBRACES THE EARNEST IN NEW INDIE SINGLE “REVENGE”
Long Beach quartet Sweet Nobody confronts the way we love each other today. Typically, modern society promotes deceit; you never know who’s who until it’s too late. Their single “Revenge” rebukes this ideology, instead encouraging earnestness in relationships. There are still those of us out there who think this way.
Sweet Nobody insists that some people “just want revenge.”
Sadly, they might be right!
People are fixated on their goals to a damaging degree. They repeat toxic cycles and tarnish relationships in pursuit of their desires. Still, Sweet Nobody insists that it doesn’t have to be this way. They know that not everyone wants “revenge,” and they’re hopeful for a future world that offers more earnest love — in all its forms.
They self-describe the track as being “for those who love the straightforward.”
Lyrically, they achieve this goal. Though poetically inclined, the lyrics aren’t challenging to understand. They’re relatively straightforward; there’s room for interpretation, but Sweet Nobody gracefully gets their point across extraordinarily well.
Sonically, light, airy lead vocals glide across a deliciously clean guitar riff. A gritty synthesizer adds contrasting texture to the rest of the song’s elements. Overall, Sweet Nobody proves there’s more to life than seeking “revenge,” especially when you wear your heart on your sleeve — horrifying as that may be to do.
