SLOW MASS RETURNS WITH STUNNING NEW SINGLE “FREEZE FRAME” AHEAD OF FIRST ALBUM IN EIGHT YEARS

Chicago’s Slow Mass is back with “Freeze Frame,” a haunting new single from their upcoming album Low on Foot, out May 16, 2025, via Landland Colportage. It’s their first full-length in eight years — and it’s worth the wait.

Blending the raw urgency of Fugazi with the slow-burning beauty of Low, “Freeze Frame” captures the emotional tension of self-acceptance versus self-doubt. Bassist/vocalist Mercedes Webb describes it as exploring “the relationship we develop with ourselves over the course of our lives.”

Recorded with Scott Evans (SUMAC, Thrice), Low on Foot expands the band’s sound in every direction, featuring guest spots from NNAMDï, Jon Nuñez (Torche), Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos), and more. Much of the record reflects on personal themes of aging, job loss, and resilience.

Slow Mass will celebrate the new album with a U.S. tour kicking off May 23 in Minneapolis.
