LA-based electro-punk group Sextile have amassed a cult following thanks to their authenticity. Their post-punk roots have transformed many times over, now incorporating plucky EDM synths into their signature sound. Recently, the duo comprised of Melissa Scaduto and Brady Keehn announced the release of a full-length LP, ‘yes, please’ and its lead single, “Kids.”
This single erupts with energy from beginning to end, capturing ears with eclectic 808s under electrifying synths. “Kids” is more melodic than many of its peers, with angelic lead vocals gliding gracefully over a chaotic beat. In many ways, Sextile stayed true to their punk roots, while following a unique path.
The song offers a relatable perspective on teen angst and growing pains. Its poetic lyricism stands tall, with verses and wordplay taking over the mix. Of course, this would do well in a club setting, but, it can easily make its way to personal productivity playlists.
Sextile’s free-flowing energy is a sober out-of-body experience. “Kids” is an absolute banger, whether you’re grooving to it at home or at EDC—and we can’t wait to hear the rest of the record!
