DEEP SEA DIVER ROCKED THE TERAGRAM BALLROOM IN LOS ANGELES

Deep Sea Diver strolled through Los Angeles last week, playing two packed shows promoting their new album, Billboard Heart, which dropped this February via Sub Pop. Night one at the Teragram Ballroom in downtown LA was a special treat for SoCal rock fiends, who packed themselves like sardines to catch the Deep Sea Diver crew in action. To everyone’s delight, the band played almost all of their new record and fan favorites from 2020’s Impossible Weight and beyond. Covered in dark stage lighting for most of the evening, Deep Sea Diver let their killer tunes and stellar musicianship do most of the talking. Singer and guitar slinger extraordinaire Jessica Dobson chatted with the crowd between songs [shouting out Alhambra!]. She was incredibly stoked to introduce special guest Madison Cunningham when she joined the band during “Don’t Let Go.”

Fans danced and sang, and some in the front even sported shovels by the band’s recent single, “Shovel.” Dobson noted this had never happened before, so congrats, LA, for innovating new fandom/concert etiquette tiers. From new jams like “What Do I Know” to old-school rippers like “You Go Running,” there’s no denying how excellent and infectious Deep Sea Diver’s fuzzed-out indie rock sound is live. There wasn’t a glum face in the building when the band launched into “Eyes Are Red (Don’t Be Afraid)” toward the end of their set. Air guitar aficionados would be wise to catch Deep Sea Diver on tour this Spring as they roll through a town near you!
