Santa Cruz hardcore band Scowl made a powerful late-night television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, performing their single "Tonight (I'm Afraid)" from their latest album, Are We All Angels. The performance showcased the band's dynamic energy and marked a significant milestone in their rising career.

This appearance follows a trend of hardcore bands breaking into mainstream media. In November 2024, the Kentucky-based metalcore band Knocked Loose performed their song "Suffocate" featuring Poppy on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The intense performance sparked mixed reactions from viewers, with some expressing discomfort and others praising the band's bold presence on national television.

Scowl's performance on The Late Show signifies a growing acceptance and interest in hardcore music within mainstream platforms, paving the way for more bands in the genre to reach wider audiences.
