READER CONJURES CATCHY HARD ROCK VIBES ON “AM I MEAN?”

Reader are a sweet Arkansas-based rock act with a scorching new single, “Am I Mean?” up their sleeve. This three-minute track covers a lot of ground, going from kinda punk to distorted indie rock before hitting the gas pedal near the two-thirds mark and shifting into hard rock mode. Reader seems to put a large emphasis on their wonderfully distorted guitar tone, a feat you will never hear Get Some Magazine complain about in the slightest. The guitar crunch works in tandem with the bass lines like you wouldn’t believe, just as the bustling hi-hat seems to mesh with the hints of melodic guitar notes that creep through. Then there’s that guitar solo. Much like this song overall, it’s short, sweet, to the point, and worth re-listening to over and over again.
