RAMONDA HAMMER’S “EYELASH” BRINGS CRUNCHY ALT-ROCK WITH A NU-METAL KICK
“Eyelash” sounds a lot like Evanescence, without the gothic, electronic, and classical music influences, and the scary yet talented and badass vocalist, Amy Lee.
The L.A.-based band, featuring Devin Davis, Justin Geter, and Andy Hengl, also incorporates punk and grunge influences, but it is the latter that stands out most prominently.
Ramonda Hammer is a straightforward lineup of musicians that play hard with a sense of intensity and drive, but there isn’t much complexity to the serviceable arrangements. Yet they do work well enough with the framework of the song, which is about a doomed relationship.
“Eyelash” still manages to pique one’s interest and warrant additional listens.
