PALEJOY BRING THEIR PAIN BACK TO LIFE WITH THEIR NEWEST SINGLE “WHAT A SAD LITTLE LIFE, JANE”

Pouring your emotions into a song is an immensely therapeutic way to deal with any struggle. I’m not even a musician, and I know that. Sometimes the best songs are the most heartfelt. But there are times when some things are too painful to share.

Scottish lads Palejoy give us a taste of their agony in their newest track, “What a Sad Little Life, Jane.” The alt/emo 3-piece band combines its tight, dynamic sound with personal lyrics to produce songs with kinetic energy. In “What a Sad Little Life, Jane,” there are references to cancer, and whether they are literal or figurative, they emphasize the depth of pain that the band is going through. The tone of the lyrics mirrors the heaviness of the music, enough to evoke a sense of their pain.

Highlighted by a heavy chorus, “What a Sad Little Life, Jane” turns anguish into beauty. Although Palejoy can be easily grouped with 2000s emo bands, the extent of their lyrical content proves to be a little more mature than that of the other bands that have preceded them.

Because sometimes you need something more profound. Sometimes you need the proper perspective.
