PAIN OF TRUTH REFUSE TO BACK DOWN ON FEROCIOUS NEW SINGLE "UNFORGIVEN"

There aren't many bands carrying hardcore into bigger rooms without sanding off the rough edges, but Pain of Truth continues proving they're one of them. Their latest single, "UNFORGIVEN," is another unapologetic beatdown that hits like a fking cinder block to the chest, pairing crushing riffs with a vocal performance that sounds fueled by equal parts conviction and contempt.
Clocking in with everything fans have come to expect from the Long Island outfit, "UNFORGIVEN" wastes absolutely no time. The guitars lurch forward with an ugly, metallic groove before erupting into stomping breakdowns tailor-made to level a festival barricade. It's heavy, it's pissed off, and most importantly, it never feels like it's trying too hard. Pain of Truth have always understood that authenticity hits harder than gimmicks.
Lyrically, the track leans into themes of betrayal, accountability, and refusing to carry the weight of someone else's mistakes. Rather than wallowing in resentment, "UNFORGIVEN" feels like drawing a line in the sand and daring anyone to cross it.
Speaking on the track, Pain Of Truth vocalist Michael Brian Smith shares, “I wrote this track to give a sense of hope in horrible times. Using your energy to make a move and turning it into a win.”
The accompanying video ditches polished production in favor of a grainy, old-school VHS aesthetic that feels ripped straight from a forgotten hardcore tape. The lo-fi visuals only amplify the song's raw aggression, giving "UNFORGIVEN" the kind of DIY authenticity that perfectly matches its crushing sound.
With their self-titled sophomore album PAIN OF TRUTH arriving September 25 via DAZE, "UNFORGIVEN" makes one thing painfully clear: the band isn't interested in reinventing themselves. They're interested in getting heavier, tighter, and meaner than the last time you saw them.
Hardcore doesn't need saving, but it does need bands willing to carry the torch without compromising what made the genre special in the first place. Pain of Truth are doing exactly that.
