LOOSE BUTTONS HIT THE BULLSEYE WITH "SURE THING"
NYC indie rockers Loose Buttons might've just dropped one of the easiest songs to throw on repeat this summer. "Sure Thing" is exactly what great indie rock should be: loud enough to crank with the windows down, catchy enough to get stuck in your head for days, and packed with just the right amount of swagger.
This is the kind of song that deserves to soundtrack an irresponsibly fun night—bouncing from one dive bar to the next, convincing yourself you only came out for one drink before somehow ending up ordering late-night tacos at 2 a.m. The chorus is ridiculously infectious, the guitars have just enough bite, and the whole thing feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard.
The single arrives ahead of the band's new album, You Came To See Magic, due out August 21. Frontman Eric Nizgretsky says the record is about chasing something bigger than the music itself. After years of trying to "pull the rabbit out of the hat" with three-minute songs, he realized that making music with the people you love eventually stops feeling like a trick and starts feeling like forever.
Some songs make you nod your head. "Sure Thing" makes you text your friends, "Meet me at the bar," before the first chorus is even over.
