ENDEARMENTS GEARS UP FOR DEBUT ALBUM WITH NEW SINGLE “REAL DEAL”

Endearments just dropped a new single, “Real Deal,” a look into their upcoming debut album, ‘An Always Open Door.’ In the song, the Brooklyn-based band explores the melancholic underbelly of a rocky relationship and contrasts it with a lulling, dreampop sound that they know and love.

From the bright opening riff to the aching finishing guitars, the track shines with its instrumental performance. It’s a gleaming example of clean indie, with a touch of post-punk guitar that gives it an edge and captures the heavy themes.

The track explores love and eventual loss through simple yet impactful lyrics. Consistent repetition of the line “you’re not happy” directly contrasts the song's upbeat, wistful tone, creating a dichotomy that perfectly captures the confusing aspects of tumultuous relationships.

“Real Deal” features vocals that are very reminiscent of Billy Corgan’s in The Smashing Pumpkins: ethereal, breathy, and sometimes nasally. I will say, I prefer previous endeavors like Endearments’ popular track, “Anica,” and their previous single, “Cannon,” which utilize Kevin Marksson’s wispy voice through a softness that complements the airy sound seamlessly.

Overall, it’s clear that Endearments is sticking true to their dreamy roots while also toying with production, and it seems like they’re having a fun time with it. Their nine-track album ‘An Always Open Door’ is set to drop on March 6, so mark your calendars to see what else this trio has to offer.
