SOCIAL DISTORTION RELEASES NEW SINGLE “BORN TO KILL” AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM
Social Distortion has returned with “Born This Way,” the title track from their upcoming eighth studio album, set for release May 8 via Epitaph Records. The new single serves as a statement of intent from a band that has spent decades defining the intersection of punk grit and American roots rock.
“Born This Way” carries the unmistakable DNA of Social Distortion. Crunching guitars, a locked-in rhythm section, and vocals that balance defiance with hard-earned perspective. The song feels stripped down and purposeful, leaning into the kind of blue-collar honesty that has always fueled the band’s catalog. It is less about reinvention and more about reaffirmation.
The accompanying music video doubles down on that energy. Presented as a live performance, the visual captures the band in their element, amplifying the rawness and urgency of the track. There is no elaborate concept, just pure volume and presence. The performance setting heightens the impact, reminding viewers that Social Distortion’s power has always been rooted in the stage.
The upcoming album, also titled Born This Way, marks the band’s eighth full-length release. The record will also include “Born To Kill,” which features guest appearances from Benmont Tench and Lucinda Williams, adding an extra layer of Americana weight to the project.
With “Born This Way,” Social Distortion sounds as focused and unshakable as ever. The single feels like a mission statement for a band that has never strayed far from its core. Loud, honest, and built to last.
