Each layer of this mix sits perfectly where it should, not outshining or overbearing anything else. House music is hit-or-miss for this critic; I appreciate the nostalgic value of it, having many close millennial friends and relatives who explained the glory days to me like its fairytale stuff, but new songs like “Rebel In The Room” are what get me excited.

Of course, the instrumental is incredibly good by itself. However, what really stands out is the powerful vocal work done on the lead. It has full verses and a chorus, refraining from chopping up the main line and calling it a day.

Overall, BRAT summer includes instant hits like “Rebel In The Room,” which feature new takes on earthy, grungy house music.
