MOCK MEDIA CHANNEL VINTAGE UK ATTITUDE ON “MOCK CITY ROCK”

Mock Media come out swinging on “Mock City Mock,” tapping into a distinctly UK-flavored sound rooted in the grit and attitude of the ‘70s and ‘80s. You can hear flashes of The Cars, DEVO, The Clash, and Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers woven throughout, but it never feels like imitation. It feels like influence, sharpened and reworked into something their own.

The track moves with purpose. It’s aggressive, driving, and tightly wound, never spilling over into chaos but always riding that edge. There’s a density to it, a controlled intensity that keeps everything locked in while still feeling expansive.

Lyrically, it paints a vivid picture. You can almost see the pavement, feel the grit, hear the engine running somewhere in the background. There’s a sense of motion and wear to it, like a late-night drive with nowhere specific to go.

Whether or not Mock Media are aiming to sit alongside names like MC5, XTC, or the New York Dolls, they’re clearly pulling from that same DNA. What makes it work is the attitude. There’s a sneer, a confidence, and a laid-back swagger that carries the track from start to finish, making “Mock City Mock” feel like more than just a throwback.
