POPPY LAUNCHES EXCITING NEW CHAPTER WITH UPCOMING ALBUM EMPTY HANDS OUT JANUARY 23, NEW SINGLE “BRUISED SKY” OUT NOW
Poppy is starting a new era, and it’s coming in loud AF. The genre-shifting artist just announced her next album Empty Hands, dropping January 23 through Sumerian Records, and the second single “Bruised Sky” is already out and making waves.
The track, produced and co-written by Stephen Harrison and Jordan Fish of Bring Me the Horizon, showcases Poppy at her most confident. “Bruised Sky” hits like a storm, blending dreamy melodies with heavy industrial grit. One moment she’s whispering like she’s in your head, the next she’s screaming through the mix. It’s chaotic, cinematic, and completely Poppy.
The video doubles down on that feeling. Directed by Orie McGinness, it’s a strange, beautiful trip through a world that looks half machine and half nightmare. Poppy looks powerful in it, almost alien, surrounded by flickering lights and mechanical shapes that feel alive.
Empty Hands follows last year’s Zig and feels like the next step in her constant transformation. Every project she’s done has twisted expectations, and this one looks ready to go even further. If “Bruised Sky” is the opening move, we’re in for something raw, emotional, and unpredictable.
Over the years, Poppy has built a reputation for being impossible to pin down. She’s moved from bright pop to metal to noise to something entirely her own. Each release feels like a new identity, but underneath it all is the same curiosity and edge that’s made her one of the most interesting artists in music right now.
Empty Hands is available for pre-order now, including exclusive vinyl variants through Sumerian Records.
